English Major Course Level 6

In this course, students will build on their language learning from Level 5. This will be achieved through a specific focus on a range of language skills, reading skills and math skills. To do this, lessons will introduce a wider range of new vocabulary including nouns, verbs and adjectives, key action words, sentence examples, and role play. Learning is contextualized in age-appropriate topics, including time, food, history, rules, and natural resources.

The English Major Course Level 6 lessons includes Phonics instruction transitions into word study, where students explore a wider range of spelling rules and patterns. This includes blends such as ie and ei, spelling rules for common patterns, and the introduction of prefixes and suffixes. Lessons help students understand how words change form and meaning—for example, turning a verb into a noun by adding -ion

Reading development is a key focus in Level 6. Students will engage with longer, more detailed readers that expose them to academic content, subject-specific vocabulary, and more complex sentence structures. These texts encourage the development of reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary retention in meaningful contexts.

Speaking and listening development is also emphasized. Students participate in guided conversations, read aloud poetry, and complete listening comprehension activities to help them understand language as it is spoken and used in real-life contexts.

This Level 6 offers a rich, academically-oriented experience for upper primary students or intermediate-level ESL learners. Through the integration of vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, speaking, and writing, this course equips learners with the skills they need to think critically, communicate effectively, and write with confidence in English.
